Doodle This

Sunday, March 18th, 2007

Doodle_this_julie This is a great card that my friend Julie made using the Doodle This stamp set.  You can view this set here.

I don't know if you can see the glitter that she used on the flower - it looks great!  I also love the Ticket Corner punch she used.  I think I'm going to have to invest in that punch (I love our punches - they work so well!).

Another tri-fold card

Friday, March 16th, 2007

What are the odds that I made another tri-fold card?  Okay, don't answer that.  I used the Office Accoutrement stamp set from the Spring Mini catalog.  I am really enjoying this set and I love how the round tab punch coordinates beautifully with it! Office_accoutrement_trifold_card

I used Certainly Celery, Elegant Eggplant and Whisper White Carstock as well as the Notations double-sided Designer Series paper.  I wanted this card to fit in the 5-in-1 envelope template, so I cut the base cardstock 3 3/4" x 6".  To make it easy on myself, I cut the Certainly Celery 5 3/4" x 10 1/2".  10 1/2" easily folds into thirds, so I scored at 3 1/2" & 7".

I used the 1 3/8" circle punch to punch a hole from the top layer, then stamped the "Original" stamp in Eggplant on white and punched it out with the 1 1/4" circle punch.  I layered that on a 1 3/8" So Saffron circle.  I stamped the flower image in So Saffron on Whisper White and cut it out and added a neutrals button to the center with mini-glue dots.

I used various stamps from the Office Accoutrement set to stamp the inside of the card and created the envelope out of the Notations paper and the 5-in-1 envelope template.

Another swap

Tuesday, March 13th, 2007

Happy_spring_1 Here's another great card that I swapped for at Melanie's team meeting.

This card uses the free set we received from Stampin' Up! (gotta love being a demonstrator!) - Polka Dots & Paisley.  She used Certainly Celery, So Saffron, and Tempting Turquoise carstock.  Tempting Turquoise, Pumpkin Pie and Certainly Celery inks.  I believe she may have used the Coluzzle to cut the circular shape out of So Saffron and then stamped the paisley design in Pumpkin Pie.

She punched holes around the Whisper White using the Crafters' Toolkit and added some Hodgepodge Hardware and orange grosgrain ribbon to tie up the look.  You can click on the picture for a larger view.

Designer Series Paper

Sunday, March 11th, 2007

I love the way Lisa used the Au Chococolate Designer Series double-sided paper in her Big Bloom card!  Lisa is in my second level downline and she swapped this great card at our team meeting Friday night.Big_blooms_au_chocolate_1

She used Close to Cocoa, Pretty in Pink, and Barely Banana cardstock and the Au Chocolate Designer Series paper.  Big Blooms & Warm Words stamp sets.  Chocolate Chip ink for the stem and saying.  She also used Soft Subtles buttons, linen thread and Rose Grosgrain ribbon.  I believe she also used the 1 1/4" and 1 3/8" circle punches to created the center of the flower.  Great card, Lisa!

Looks Like Spring!

Friday, March 9th, 2007

Hello stampers!  We're finally starting to get some warmer weather in Colorado and I was in the mood to stamp something bright and cheerful.  So I came up with this card which was CASEd (Copy and Share Everything) from a card I received in a swap.  And this seems appropriate since this is my swap for my downline meeting tonight.Polka_dots_paisley_get_well_card_2

I used Summer Sun and Basic Black.  Sometimes I just love monochromatic stamping. :-)   I used the Polka Dots & Paisley stamp set from the Spring Mini catalog (you can find a link to it on the left), and the Sincere Salutations.  I needed some get well cards, but you could easily turn this into a thinking of you, birthday or just about anything.

With Basic Black I stamped the saying on Whisper White and the dots on the Summer Sun.  Then using Summer Sun, I inked up the flower and stamped off first to lighten the color before stamping on the Whisper White.  I then stamped the outline flower image in full strength Summer Sun.  I also stamped the paisley design on the Summer Sun main card, but it doesn't show up well in the scan.  I added a piece of black gingham ribbon to the main panel with the words.

I matted all of the stamped pieces with Basic Black, as well as the main card being Basic Black.  I added a Whisper White liner to the inside that was sponged with Summer Sun.

Try some monochromatic stamping today - I think you'll like it!

Big Blooms

Wednesday, March 7th, 2007

Big_blooms_card_web_1 I participated in a swap with my friend Melanie and her downline.  While I unfortunately couldn't attend the meeting, she was kind enough to swap for me.  She made this cute card using a lot of fun, different punches.

I really like the new Spiral punch in the Spring mini catalog.  She also used the 1 3/8" circle punch as well as the key tag punch.  Don't you love the way she used markers to color each of the different words in the saying?  The colors used are More Mustard, Rose Red, Regal Rose, Chocolate Chip and Whisper White.  I also like the use of the Aged Copper Hodgepodge hardware.  That hardware is so much fun to use!

The tab punch is awesome!

Monday, March 5th, 2007

Did I mention that I love the the Round Tab Punch from the Spring Mini Catalog?!  It's so much fun!  And the new double-sided Designer Series papers are great.  I used the colors from the Petals & Paisleys paper - Old Olive, So Saffron, Tempting Turquoise (you could also use Cool Caribbean) and Pixie Pink for this box.  Did you notice that I didn't actually use any of the paper?  I simply used the colors from the paper - gotta love all of the places we get ideas!

Polka_dots_paisley_2468_box_1These boxes are so quick and easy to make.  Simply take a half sheet of cardstock (like you're going to make a card) and score it at 2", 4", 6" & 8" along the short side, and then at 2" on the long side.  Fold up (don't forget your Sticky Strip!) and you're done.  Okay, maybe not done - you might want to embellish a little.  :-)

I used the Polka Dots & Paisley stamp set on this box.  I stamped the Paisley with Old Olive on the box before I assembled it.  Then I used my Stampin' Write markers in Pixie Pink, So Saffron, Old Olive to create the flower.  I used Tempting Turquoise to stamp the second part of the flower (2-step stamping) over the top.  I sponged Old Olive around the edges of the Whisper White.  Then I punched a round tab from So Saffron and using my Pixie Pink marker inked up just the word "Joy" from the saying and stamped that on the tag.  I used Stampin' Dimensionals to add some depth on the stamped image.

Have fun creating projects that aren't just cards.  And don't forget to check out the March special for this set - it's a fantastic deal!

Spring Mini Play Day

Saturday, March 3rd, 2007

Office_accoutrement_important_message I had some time to sit down and play with my new stamps and accessories from the Spring Mini Catalog.

As you may have seen from a previous post, I am enamored with these colors.  These were from a SCS color challenge a couple of weeks back (So Saffron, Certainly Celery, Cranberry Crisp).

I started off by stamping the large flower from Office Accoutrement (*love* this set!) in Celery on the Celery card.  Then I used Cranberry Crisp to stamp the calendar stamp and Date stamp on the cranberry and I sponged cranberry around the edges.  Still with the Cranberry I stamped the 3 images (all from the same Office Accoutrement set) on Whisper White.  I punched these out using the 1 1/4" square punch on point.  Then I used the 1 3/8" square punch to punch out of Certainly Celery.  I cut the So Saffron with my Tabletop Paper cutter to 1 5/8".  The image in the center is raised with dimensionals.  Oh yea, I sponged Cranberry Crisp all around the Whisper White squares to give them more dimension.

And last but not least, one of the best new punches - the Round Tab punch - I have been having so much fun with this one!  I punched this shape out of So Saffron, then I inked up only part of the Important Message stamp and stamped it on the folded tab.  I adhered that behind the Cranberry Crisp and all of that onto the celery card.

Lots of fun and actually quite easy to do.  I think you are going to like this stamp set and love the coordinating accessories!

Feel Better

Tuesday, February 27th, 2007

I made this card for a friend of mine who is not feeling well.  I hope it brightens her day.

It was a quick, easy card to make, because I only used the Just Delightful Simply Scrappin' kit from the Sell-a-Bration catalog.  The flower was larger than the card, but I simply cut off any extra that was hanging over the edge.  Fast, fun and easy to make.Friend_get_well_card_2

Why not try making a card or other non-scrapbooking project from a Simply Scrappin' kit?  I'd love to see what you are creating.
