Time to Sale-a-Brate!
Monday, February 4th, 2008Sale-a-Bration is finally here! From now through March 17, you can earn FREE stamps and rub-ons from the Sale-a-Bration catalog!
I have been playing around with the Friendship Blooms stamp set and the coordinating rub-ons and having lots of fun! One of the projects I created came about by happenstance. I am trying to declutter our home and a big part of our clutter is paper clutter. So I've been faithfully shredding old documents, tax info, checks, etc. that we no longer need to save for tax purposes. Well it turns out I haven't done this in awhile and I had a lot of old checks that needed to be shredded. This means I have a lot of old checkbook boxes lying around. I was about to recycle them when I thought, hmm, I bet I could do something crafty with these.
On my desk next to the box was our new Love & Happiness Rub-Ons from the Sale-a-bration catalog (if you click on the Sale-a-bration picture above, it links to the actual catalog). So I decided fate had intervened and these two items just had to play together.
I covered the top of the checkbook box with our Flowers for You double-sided designer series paper. I used the 1 ΒΌ" circle punch to punch out the finger grips on the side of the box and then I started decorating with the rub-ons.
Here is the box with just the Happy Day rub on applied, and the belly band that I made using the coordinating Friendship Blooms stamp set:
I finished decorating it at my workshop on Saturday, and this is how it looks with the rest of the Rub-Ons applied:
So what do you think? Isn't this one of the cutest things you've seen? And a great project for re-use! I'm thinking of making one of these and giving it away as blog candy, so leave a comment and let me know what you think about winning one of these re-purposed boxes.
Now I don't want you to think that this is all there is. For my party, I needed a gift for my hostess to thank her for having a party, and guess what fits perfectly in these little boxes? 3x6 cards! But I'm going to share those cards another day.
It's time to celebrate! (or should that be Sale-a-Brate?!)
